The Montesdeoca cheese gets two gold medals in the 5th "Canary Cheese Fair"
This past weekend, cheese producers of Tenerife, met at Pinolere Ethnographic Park, located in the town of La Orotava to celebrate the V "Canary Cheese Fair". In this edition, the cheese farm from Adeje called Montesdeoca, won two gold medals for its cheese "old gofio" and "smoked fresh". In addition, the farm won the bronze medal for the "fresh" as well as three awards in the category of pasteurized goat's milk.
In this sense, the mayor, José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga recognized "the efforts of the entire team of this cheese farm from Adeje, which has always been reaping awards with a quality product, it also adds value to the rural world in our town ".
Besides, Councillor of Agriculture, Esther Rivero Vargas explained that "the Pinolere fair is a perfect setting to show everything about local products of our islands and of course demonstrate the culture we have around the cheese, which has been demonstrated by the recognition of the farm of the town."
Currently, the Montesdeoca cheese farm produces various types of cheeses, including: fresh white, smoked, curds, white curds, paprika and gofio, cheese cured and finally the one year old curing.
Those interested in purchasing the varieties of cheese can do so at the cheese farm itself, located in the neighborhood of Tijoco Bajo, specifically, the rise Llano de las Flores, fifty meters from the station. They can also find them in the Agromercado of Adeje, which is open on Wednesdays from 16:00 to 20:00 and Saturday and Sunday from 08:00 until 13.30 p.m.
Throughout the fair, people attendees enjoyed many recreational and educational activities. There were numerous spaces for tasting and sale of cheeses of all the islands, as well as products made from goatskin and ventorrillo cheese grilled with mojo, 'timba' and wine appellation 'Valle de La Orotava' and other Canary points.
