Living on the Canary Islands

The Canary Islands not only has 31 sports ports, thousands of kilometres of beaches, international music festivals, theatre and opera which make pleasant the life of its residents, but they also have two universities and more than 30 bilingual schools. Moreover, Islands residents have access to free education and healthcare systems with 9 hospitals and more than 145 health centres.


The Canary Islands features 141 protected areas, four of which are National Parks, plus four Biosphere Reserves and a total of 1,386 native plants, hundreds of volcanoes and a significant variety of ecosystems and micro-climates.


Fans and professionals in sports like windsurf or kite surf and sailing sports from the five continents come to the Islands 365 days a year to practice and train. It is no wonder the Canary Islands has brought home 7 Olympic gold medals and that world competitions such as the WQS circuit’s 6* Prime Championship and the TP52 World Championship are held on its coastlines.
