Business Cooperation Programmes
PIPE is the acronym for Plan de Iniciación a la Promoción Exterior (Foreign Promotion Initiation Plan).
An assistance programme for Spanish SMEs for their practical initiation to exporting. This Programme is organized and directed by the joint efforts of the Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade (ICEX), the High Council of Spanish Chambers of Commerce in collaboration with the Autonomous Regions and Chambers of Commerce.
All of these institutions, along with the European Union through ERDF funds, contribute economic and human resources in order to facilitate initiatives by SMEs in foreign promotion and trade.
Since PIPE began in 1997, more than 4,000 companies throughout Spain belonging to all production and service sectors have participated in this Programme. All of them had the same objective: to include exportation as a permanent and stable activity in their company.

The Centre for the Development of Enterprise (CDE) is a joint body formed by the ACP group of Nations (Africa, Caribbean and Pacific) and the European Union which was created under the Cotonou Agreement and is financed by the European Development Fund.
The CDE supports the implementation of private sector development strategies in ACP countries. For this purpose, it provides non-financial business services to companies in these countries through sector or regional programmes or through ad-hoc operations. It also promotes partnerships between European and ACP economic agents.
These partnerships have various forms and can be carried out in any phase of the development of a project.
Through an agreement signed in May 2007, PROEXCA receives institutional support and advising through its technical and satellite offices in the ACP countries.

Its main activities are in general: public-private dialogue between IO (Intermediate Organizations) and governments, assistance for IO to improve their service packages, investment promotion and cooperation agreements between companies, network development between IO from different countries and regions, etc
