Embassy Presentation:

Jurisdiction: The main duties of the Embassy are to strengthen relations with Mauritania and serve the Spanish citizens in the country. It provides administrative services to Spaniards and authorizes visas for Mauritanian citizens.

Services offered by the Embassy Trade Department:

Assistance for Spanish or Mauritanian companies, associations and chambers of commerce that wish to establish commercial ties by offering the information needed to evaluate business opportunities.

Currency
The monetary unit is the Ouguiya, which comes in bills of 2000, 1000, 500, 200, 100 ouguiya. There are also 20, 10 and 5 Ouguiya coins, but they are not really used.

Local Time
There is no time difference with the Canary Islands.

Health precautions
No required vaccines.

Entry requirements
A valid passport and visa are required.
You must apply for a visa at the Mauritania Embassy in Madrid or at the Mauritania Consulate in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
There are no particular difficulties in obtaining it.
Special permits are required for journalists.
